Museum of Art and Photography (MAP) Presents:
DISCOVER MAP ARTISTS Age: 10+
Karen Knorr is a photographer and academic who was born in Germany, grew up in Puerto Rico and lives in London. Her large body of work develops a critical and playful dialogue with photography; exploring ideas of power, prejudice and patriarchy, among others.
This Discover MAP pack includes:
- An exploration guide – Discover India Song, an India-based photo series by Karen Knorr that addresses the representation of animals in art & culture and more.
- MAP Stories With Art – Unpack a Karen Knorr photograph and use it to develop your own four-panel story.
- MAP Activity Sheet – Imagine creatures in unlikely habitats and think about how they might change to adapt!

A key element of MAP’s mission is to change the perception of museums, from old repositories to a space of creative learning; to a perfect spot for families to spend the day and bond while discovering and engaging with our collection in new and fun ways. Our family-oriented programming and workshops are designed to cater to audiences of different ages within a family.
The Discover MAP packs that explore the museum’s collections through select artists, themes, and stories, also make a great family bonding activity. Download and access these resources at home to make the most of your weekend with your kids. It’s never too late to have fun or learn. We believe in doing both.
