The SNDO – School for New Dance Development is a full time four-year professional education course that leads to the diploma Bachelor of Dance – Choreography. The school is looking for students who are motivated to become a choreographer/dance and performance maker. Students who want to widen the range of their movement vocabulary, challenge their existing viewpoints, expand their creative processes, and develop performance work. They are also encouraged to make considered choices in creating a position for themselves in the profession while being aware of the aesthetic and social implications of their work.
Every year the SNDO has a three-day audition process to select prospective students. The audition days include three components: different technique classes, movement research, improvisation and creating, a motivation talk and a presentation of a short performance. The solo of three minutes should give an idea of the applicant’s view on body, dance and choreography. Classes are given by teachers and alumni from the SNDO. The audition board is formed by an artist, a curator or artistic director of a theater/venue/festival, an SNDO-graduate, two teachers and the artistic director of the SNDO.
